how life was back then, living between village and alp
The route leads from Bettmeralp toward the village of Betten. It passes by the Ried and Domo mountain pastures alongside some beautiful alpine meadows to reach the mountain village of Betten in approx. 2 ½ hours.
The mountain pastures give you an idea how the residents used to live. On nine information boards, Aletscha and Aletschander (two local kids) tell the story in words and pictures of how life was back then, living between village and alp.
With its black larch houses, Betten epitomizes a typical Valaisian village and is well worth a closer look.
From Betten-Dorf you can take the aerial cable car, which leads conveniently up to Bettmeralp.
