Bettmeralp / Riederalp Global Trail

Awe-inspiring view of the Valaisian Alps with the Matterhorn, Weisshorn-Mischabel

The route:
The marked trail begins at the top station of the Bettmeralp aerial cableway and leads up a gently rising path to the rustic Hotel Waldhaus. From here, the trail veers slightly to the right passing Chalet Tosca and then runs parallel to the new Blausee chairlift, along the edge of the forest and up to Gopplerlücke. From this viewpoint, with the Valais Alps always in sight, the path leads on in the direction of Golmenegg. The marked trail is graded as an easy hike and takes you over a long forested ridge to Restaurant Golmenegg. From here, it is only a short distance, past the St. Bernhard Centre to the romantic hamlet of "Flesch". From Flesch, you initially pass small vacation rentals in typical Valais chalet style and then cross a small idyllic wooded area to Hotel Adler. From here, a short hike along a flat trail leads you back to Bettmeralp.

Hiking time:
approx. 2 hours
